The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong

Posted by NightlyReading on 8:52 AM
I really love this series. Kelley Armstrong writes a crisp, fresh story. I do not know how else to put it, but this series is a refreshing read.

The beginning of this book was kind of slow to start, but once it started, it really took off!
The whole crew breaks away from the institution excluding Rae, whom they find out was not exactly the trustworthy friend that they had thought. With the help of Aunt Lauren and Tori (which was a surprise) they escape and hit the road again on the hunt for Derrick and Simon's dad. There are quite a few twists and turns which ends up with them being seperated, but come back together in the end.

I cannot wait to read the final chapter in this series. It really deserves 5 stars!!!!

Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

Posted by NightlyReading on 9:32 AM
Oh. My. Gosh.

I think this was the best book of the series. I love Rose's adventures filled with action, romance and drama.
This book starts off with Rose in prison due to the death of Queen Tatiana. Her friends manage to "bust" her out and she goes on an adventure of a lifetime to hide out until her name can be freed. Only, Rose, as we all know, has an issue with just sitting tight and she starts a plan of her own, which leads her to all different drama and all over the eastern U.S. All the while jumping into Lissa's head to find out wheat is happening back at court and the continuous struggle with her feelings for Dimka and Adrian. In the end, she does choose between them both.

I really enjoyed this series even though I was skeptical at first. I really loved all of the characters and it was easy to identify with them. Rose is a great heroin and she is a bada$$ chick. I am looking forward to Richelle's next series called Bloodlines, which will incoorporate some of the characters from VA.

Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead

Posted by NightlyReading on 10:18 AM
This book took awhile for me to get into. It started off really fast and then slowed down a bit. In my opinion, it was still really good!

Spirit Bound starts off with Dimitri still sending Rose letters telling her that he will find her. Rose is getting ready to graduate from the academy, but still cannot shake what she has been told about turning strigoi back to themselves. So, in true Rose fashion, she comes up with an elaborate plan to break Victor out of prison, of course, all with the help of her friends. It will be an adventure that none of them will forget and one that will cost Rose alot in the end.

Of course, this book leaves you with Rose in a heap of trouble and her future hanging in the balance, she has more love issues than ever and at times, she feels desperately alone.

I cannot wait to read the final chapter and find out how all the drama falls! So.......

Blood Promise by Richelle Mead

Posted by NightlyReading on 11:12 AM
This series just keeps getting better!

Rose is on a quest to hunt down Dimitri in his home town of Bai, Russia. She has a plan to free him from being strigoi due to a promise that they had once made to each other. She gets to meet his family and stay with them for awhile. This book tells of her adventure around Russia and what happens when she finally runs into Dimitri. The reader will be in for a total shock to see how the relationship between Rose and her love escalates during their time together in this book and how Rose had to pull it together to finally free herself from the pain of losing her true love and try to move on. Another huge cliffhanger at the end which left me having to move RIGHT into the next book!

I am absolutly loving this series and highly recommend it to any paranormal fantasy reader.

Shadowkiss by Richelle Mead

Oh. My. Gosh. What a great book and a cliffhanger.

This book starts where Frostbite left off with the gang back at the academy trying to get over what had happened in Spokane. There is alot of excitement in this book! The gang visits the queen and Rose thinks she is going crazy. The ending was very sad, but it left you with a cliffhanger and wanting to run out and buy the next book RIGHT AWAY!!!

I was not so sure in the beginning about this whole series, but I have been pleasantly surprised. I actually love it and give this third book a definite 5 stars!

Frostbite by Richelle Mead

Posted by NightlyReading on 9:04 AM
I have finally finished the second Vampire Academy book in the series. Most people say that this series is their favorite. With only having 2 books under my belt, I cannot be one of them. I do enjoy the storyline, but nothing will ever top Twilight in my book.

Frostbite continues where VA left off, with the gang continuing to go to the academy. Rose and Dimitri take a road trip to find a house full of slain vampires, which they figure out are strigoi. This begins the long journey for Rose, and one that will open her eyes to the dangers of being a guardian and what can happen to moroi when you let your guard down.

This was a great read, with a very sad ending. I cried like a baby, which is a good sign. This just means that the author was able to pull me in and I was in touch with th characters.

Hearts At Stake by Alyxandra Harvey

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next one in the series. At times the storyline reminded me alot of the Twilight saga with it's own twists and turns.

The story is about Lucy and Solange, they are best friends. Solange has a vast family vampire history which makes her very desireable and also the queen. That is, once she turns sixteen, she will complete the change.
The author has written the book to flop back and forth between Lucy and Solange's point of view, which I love, although, can get confusing at times due to having to remember whom the "I" is when reading the story.

There was plenty of action, drama and romance. This book was well written and a great read! Definately 5 stars!!!

The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove by Lauren Kate

Posted by NightlyReading on 2:48 PM
I was not quite sure what to expect from this book. It does seem like a younger teen read. The writing style is very simple, but I love that type of writing. The main character of Natalie was interesting, with a one track mind.....being crowned Palmetto Princess with her boyfriend crowned as Prince. A simple joke against a competitor turns out to be their worst nightmare. With a huge surprise at the end, which I totally was not expecting, this was a very good read.

The Van Allen Legacy by Melissa De La Cruz

Posted by NightlyReading on 1:07 PM
I have read many reviews of this book. Most people's opinions are that this is their favorite book in the series so far. Unfortunately, I disagree. The book felt drawn out with a huge climax right at the end. There are so many different aliases for the characters that it becomes very confusing unless you pay close attention to the details. My favorite part of the book was the fact that each chapter was a different characters point of view. I love when authors incorporate different views into their writing, it brings the other characters to life. I will continue with the series. I love the authors take on the whole vampire theme.

Remember Me by Christopher Pike

Posted by NightlyReading on 8:55 AM
I had purchased this book as a trilogy. All three books were bound together into one book, which made for a very long read, approximately 800 pages.

The first book, which was called Remember Me, was a very good read. The story begins by introducing the main character, Shari Cooper and her family and friends. Shari goes to a friends party and is shoved over a balcony to her death. The rest of the book is Shari trying to figure out what happened to her. In my opinion, this was the best book of the trilogy.

The second book was my least favorite. It was alot of afterlife and religion.

The third book jumps ahead a few years, this book was my second favorite, but was still a little confusing at parts.

Would I suggest this book? Probably, but I would recommend taking your time reading it.

Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

Posted by NightlyReading on 11:28 AM
For anyone that has read Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, you will love Crescendo. This book continues where Hush Hush left off with Patch and Nora continuing their love affair with Patch assuming responsibility for Nora as her guardian angel. The pair hit some bumps in the road through this whole book and leaves the reader with a cliffhanger to continue into book three. The third and final book in the series will be named Silence and I will definately keep a watch out for it!
